Your children will experience the creativity of drama by exploring different acting and devising roles used in theatre.
The specialist drama teacher will be dedicated to enabling students to build enthusiasm for performance and confidence on stage as they express themselves through voice and body. The emphasis is on developing drama skills as well as allowing students to make sense of the world around them through the exploration of a wide range of topics.
The drama curriculum will feature exciting professional work, widening the students’ knowledge of drama and inspiring them to develop imaginative ideas in their own performance work, thus igniting a passion for acting and devising. Drama appreciation will stimulate students to confidently discuss themes, characters, space and the use of lighting and sound in plays seen.
There will be opportunities to view live professional theatre as well as taking part in professional workshops. This will enrich the drama curriculum enhancing students’ skill which will lay the foundations for further study in GCSE Drama and A level Theatre Studies. The drama department offers extra-curricular opportunities in the form of theatrical productions and large-scale musical productions. This will be extending to include productions for Key Stage 3, allowing students to pursue and showcase their talents in drama.
